The air is full of sport, intense focus, and armies of coaches, all intently rooting for a lone athlete...Hey! that's the life of every cancer patient! Each and every one of us is the lone athlete trying our best to set new records, fight harder, beat the opponent, and be carried off in a swirl of victory. All cancer patients are athletes trying to win the race and wear the gold. Silver and bronze are not good enough for someone fighting cancer. Only a first place victory is acceptable.
The race for my cure started last year on 21 February when I had my first mammogram. The route I followed to the gold included the help of numerous friends, family, and colleagues. I am forever grateful for their assistance as I cruised passed the finish line.
I wear my scars as proudly as any athlete wears their ribbons and medals. They are the proof of a job well done and a victory won.

You are one my favorite athletes! I see you and Michael walking all the time. Wish I could get Dave to walk with me! Gail
