Celebrating Another Important Anniversary

It appears that all I do lately is think about anniversaries-those crazy dates that we hold close and choose to never forget.  Some of our annual remembrances are for dates of times past, when we were young and learning who and what life holds: first kiss, first job, first car...days that we think about lightly, with a smile and a sigh for who we were and where we've been.  Some of our annual remembrances bring a bittersweetness: death of a loved one, loss of a job, a move acrossed the country.  Some celebrations come attached to strong rituals: Christmas cookies, Thanksgiving menus, birthday bashes.

Tomorrow is the best kind of anniversary.  It is the anniversary of the day, 32 years ago, that I stood at the south rim of the Grand Canyon and pledged to love, honor, and cherish Michael McSweeney.  Who would have ever guessed the road we would walk together?  So many kisses, so many meals, so many friends, so many conversations, so many sleepless nights, so many movies, so many wonderfully exquisite moments of love and tenderness.

I invite you to celebrate our anniversary by telling someone important to you that your life is better because of them.  Share a memory where your special someone is featured.  Hold their hand.  Look in their eyes.  Explain your feelings for them.

Join the celebration by creating one of your own.
